Happy birthday beyondwords

I’m usually fairly decent at remembering birthdays, but I just realized today that I completely missed our blog anniversary…by a month. So, first off, happy belated birthday to beyondwords!

Secondly, thank you to all of our contributors and readers. It’s been a great two years sharing with the professional writing community, and in that spirit of sharing, beyondwords wants to give two readers a little something something.

  1. Congrats on two years of blogging! Keep it up. So to answer the questions..

1.) I really like the In The Workplace series. It’s cool to see what other peoples’ job entails and their day to day. So I always enjoy those.

    2.) HTML5 for Designers!

Time flies! I just love this blog; I feel like it’s doing different stuff than what you usually see for writing blogs.

    1. I too love the In the Workplace series, but I also like the design inspiration that is here. I may not be actively designing at the moment, but I like to think I store it away in the back of my head somewhere.

    2. That poster would look awesome in my new apartment, wherever that happens to be (a.k.a., where I find a job).

  3. Happy Birthday :)

    1) I love that you blog about Michigan!!! oh, and all the great design inspiration from around the world.

    2) So You Need A Typeface poster.

  4. Kristen says:

    1. Not to sound like a broken record, but I’m also a fan of the In the Workplace series. A new series or two could be fun, too. Maybe showcasing more portfolios of writers/editors/designers? I know it’s sometimes hard to come across digital portfolios for writers and editors so digging up more of those could be cool.

    2. This is a tough decision…but I’m going to go with HTML5 for Web Designers!

Kathryn reply on May 7th, 2010:

I have to jump in again and say I love that idea of featuring portfolios. I too have a hard time finding good ones through blind searches.

Laura reply on May 10th, 2010:

Ditto to featuring online portfolios. As you ALL know, we can use these and love to sing praises of good design and good writing.

  5. Lisa says:

    1) I’m torn between saying In the Workplace and the general design inspiration, especially as related to typography. I do like Kristen’s portfolio idea, though. :)

    2) As a typography buff, of course I’m going to have to go with the poster.

  6. Ainsley says:

    1. The job leads on the 140+ Tweet Feed are always appreciated! The fact that there are now giveaways doesn’t hurt, either.

    2. Personally I would like the typography poster. When I first saw that graphic I fell in love with it.
