As professional writers, we are often asked the question, “What is professional writing?” As young practitioners, we are still discovering new and different answers to that question as we continue to develop our professional identities.

In 2008, we launched beyondwords as an online space for professional writers to share, create, learn, and explore what it means to be a part of the professional writing community.

In this blog, we will share our experiences and knowledge as we translate our education into real-world application. We will also share resources, tips, and tutorials as we continue to develop our skills in technology and publishing.

beyondwords is about engaging with the visual as well as the verbal, defining writing as a social action, and extending a hand of experience to those just entering the field. We invite you to join us in our exploration and we welcome your feedback.
